Series and Group Class Descriptions

Foundational Chicago-Style Steppin’ Level 1 (Absolute Beginner) series teach students the core elements of both foot-patterns and partnering.  Absolute Beginner students will learn not only the 1st level Basic structure of the dance (foot-patterns), but some of the dance’s nuances and important dance floor etiquette.  This energy-packed, highly-structured series is designed for students who have no Chicago Steppin’ experience.  (Thursdays 6:00pm to 7:00pm.  Please arrive 15 minutes early.  Class begins promptly at 6:00pm)

Foundational Chicago-Style Steppin’ Level 2 (Beginner) series builds on the skills, knowledge and foot patterns from the level 1 series.  Greater emphasis will be placed on allowing the music to have “full command” of the student’s dance (truly listening to and dancing to the music)! Additional lead and follower foot patterns will be introduced.  Our FOUNDATIONAL CHICAGO STEPPIN’ SERIES (Levels 1 and 2) must be taken in order - each series covers different material - before moving on to our Advanced Beginners group class.   (Thursday, 6:00pm to 7:00pm.  Please arrive 15 minutes early.  Class begins promptly at 6:00pm)

Chicago-Style Steppin’ Advanced Beginner/Intermediate. Our Advanced Beginner/Intermediate Chicago-Style Steppin’ group class further challenges students by incorporating foot patterns from Levels 1 & 2, variations on the core Basics, combination partnering (Trios), and the romantic, elegant dance known as “Walkin”. Master Stepper, Keith Hubbard, leads this group class when in town.  With an increased focus on technique, this group class develops students into sought-after Chicago Steppers!  Students must complete our Foundational Chicago-Style Steppin’ Series 1 & 2, and receive instructor approval before attending this group class. (Thursdays 7:00pm to 8:45pm.  Please arrive 15 minutes early.  Class begins promptly at 6:30pm)
